i did! and just like last night, streaming from TVants was smooth, me happy.
i’d already shared my thoughts about the second epi HERE. do pop over to the forum to check out what the rest of the STARLINGs thought of the drama so far, and to share your two cents too.
for now, i’ll just copy and paste my own thoughts here. now do note that these are just my personal thoughts, and i’m fully aware that some fans think that tonight’s much better than last night. and i’m also aware that some fans thought the drama’s been fantabulous, and we must be blind if we didn’t think so.
but these things are subjective, and one man’s meat is another’s poison, so shrugs… so, here goes…
personally, i think there’s still room for improvement in wuri hyun joong’s acting. sure, he has improved from BOF days and i think he’s given a different soul to this character (from jihoo).
but is he good?
i think not good enough yet…. imho, he needs to be even colder and harder, but not harsh. i also think body language and the little gestures wise, he needs to be even cooler and nonchalant, but not sloppy.
but me thinks the bigger problem lies with the scriptwriter. i thought both episodes were boring. i can’t imagine a a non fan (who’s not a teenager) sitting through these two episodes without channel surfing or getting bored at some point. i think there needs to be more ‘bright spots’ and high points to the story…
thank goodness jung so min is a fairly competent actress and didn’t go over the top (like jandi did in BOF, imho). she’s also not as dumb (and irritating to me) as ariel lin in the TW version. but i also feel she’s been given too much airtime as opposed to wrui hyun joong.
(but i think it’s not fair to compare her acting vis-a-vis hyun joong’s. jung so min’s a undergrad in korea national uni studying theatre. she obviously has the aptitude and interest in acting for sometime now. and she’s received training and all that jazz.)
i only hope the story gets more interesting and the characters more fleshed out before the viewers give up. and please…. scriptwriter and PD, not too much ‘recycling’ of (goong) ideas please….
i could be the only weird one here…. coz i checked out chinese fansites, they seemed happy enough with the drama and his acting.
the by-the-minute ratings are out, and chances are it will end up slightly better than last night, i think. tonight saw a high of 6.39 and a low of 2, but i saw more numbers that were higher than last night’s, so we’ll probably (and hopefully) end up with a better number. was looking at the ratings of the baker and the fox too, seems like we’d gained some viewers from the fox, keke!
meanwhile, ODE has tweeted THE LINK to watch epi 2. no subs yet, but i think it won’t be long before the chinese subs are up. before sunrise, i dare bet…?

The Baker King (av ratings per epi is 44.9% how to fight?) on KBS will end it’s run on 16 Sept, hopefully after that PK’s rating wil go up.
